About PolyMedica
Who is PolyMedica?
PolyMedica is an Australian medical consumables company founded by a practising Australian GP. We design and supply single-use procedure packs and clinical paper products to general practice across Australia.
Why was PolyMedica founded?
Because the procedure packs being offered to Australian GPs fell into two unacceptable categories: cheap pathology-giveaway packs made of plastic that practice owners would never choose to spend on, or premium imports priced for hospital procurement budgets. The middle ground didn't exist. So we built it. More on the founder story.
Where is PolyMedica based?
Unit 33, 9 Vision Street, Wangara WA 6065. We supply Australia-wide.
Products & Compliance
Are PolyMedica products ARTG registered?
Yes — products requiring TGA registration are listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods. Skin Excision Pack: ARTG 516187 / 482987 (Class IIa). Bed Roll: ARTG 525440 (Class I). Micro Suture Kit: registration in progress. Toilet Roll: not a therapeutic good — TGA registration not required. Full ARTG registry.
What does AS 5369:2023 mean for my practice?
AS 5369:2023 is the Australian Standard for reprocessing reusable medical devices in healthcare settings. It tightened validation, documentation, and audit requirements for any practice that autoclaves instruments on site. Single-use packs eliminate this burden entirely. There's nothing to validate, nothing to document — compliance is in the box.
Are the products sterile?
Yes. Skin Excision Pack and Micro Suture Kit are sterilised by ethylene oxide (EO), supplied in tamper-evident sealed header pouches. Single-use only — do not re-sterilise.
Why 316 stainless steel for the instruments?
316 surgical-grade stainless is the same alloy specification used in operating-theatre reusables. It's what surgeons trust for invasive procedures. We use it for our single-use packs because we don't want quality to be the trade-off when a doctor switches from autoclaving to single-use.
Pricing & Ordering
Why don't you show prices on the website?
PolyMedica is a B2B supplier. Pricing is set per practice based on volume, subscription cadence, and channel (PRO direct subscription vs ESSENTIAL pathology white-label). Public list prices wouldn't reflect what your practice actually pays. Email us and you'll get a quote within one business day.
How do I get pricing?
Email hello@polymedica.au with: practice name, your role, expected monthly volume, and which SKUs you're interested in. We'll send a quote within one business day. Or request a sample first — most practices want to see and feel the pack before committing.
What's the lead time on orders?
Standard orders dispatch within 2-3 business days. Delivery 2-5 business days metropolitan Australia, 3-8 days regional. Multi-site delivery is configured per practice account.
Do you offer subscriptions?
Yes. Recurring monthly delivery is the standard arrangement for practice accounts. Cadence is configurable per SKU. Skip or modify any month. No lock-in contract.
Is there a minimum order?
No formal minimum. Practical minimums apply for freight efficiency — your account manager will discuss what makes sense for your volume.
Sustainability
Why bagasse trays instead of plastic?
Bagasse is sugarcane fibre — a by-product of sugar production that would otherwise be burned. Using it for the procedure tray turns a waste stream into a sterile substrate, and replaces the most-disposed plastic component in a single-use pack with a compostable alternative. More on the sustainability framework.
How does the 316 stainless rebate program work?
Practices on a PolyMedica subscription collect their used 316 SS instruments, and we facilitate recovery and recycling with a credit applied to the practice account. Cost-neutral to PolyMedica. Material-neutral to the planet. Margin-positive to your practice. Rolled out per practice on subscription onboarding.
Does PolyMedica align with the RACGP 6th edition Standards?
Yes — by design. The upcoming RACGP 6th edition Standards embed environmental sustainability, infection prevention, and reprocessing as core themes. Using PolyMedica means your procurement choice handles all three at the supply layer: single-use sterile packs eliminate AS 5369:2023 reprocessing burdens, bagasse trays divert from landfill, and 316 SS instruments are recovered via our rebate program. Your procurement choice is your audit proof. We supply a one-page RACGP 6th edition alignment brief in the practice onboarding pack.
Operational
Do you support multi-site delivery?
Yes. Group practices and clinics with multiple locations can configure separate delivery addresses per site, all under one practice account. Useful for clinic groups managing inventory across multiple rooms or sites under one billing relationship.
What's your returns policy?
Sterile single-use products cannot be returned once the sterile barrier is broken. Unopened, undamaged sterile packs can be returned within 30 days for credit. Damaged-on-arrival deliveries are replaced at no cost. Full refund policy.
